Fort Hare University murder suspects to appear in court

ALICE - Two more people have been arrested in connection with murders and assassination attempts at University of Fort Hare in the Eastern Cape.

They're expected to appear in the Alice magistrate's court on Monday.

The institution was rocked by a series of violent attacks against staff, leading to the deaths of two people.

The university says it is committed to succeeding in its fight against those trying to destroy the legacy of the historic institution.

The problems emerged this year when the bodyguard of the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Sakhele Buhlungu, was murdered.

Mboneli Vesele was gunned down outside Buhlungu's home in Dikeni, with investigations indicating Buhlungu was the target.
