JOHANNESBURG - Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane is facing fierce opposition to his attempt to thwart a probe into his qualification from the University of Fort Hare.
Mabuyane has asked the court to declare President Cyril Ramaphosa's instruction to the Special Investigating Unit to probe how he obtained his Master's Degree.
The SIU is opposing Mabuyane's court bid.
Now, the university has joined in, saying it will defend itself in court.
It says it's reaffirmed its responsibility and legal obligation to work with law enforcement agencies to bring the matter to finality.
The matter arose from a report alleging that Mabuyane received favours and special treatment while a student at the university.
