Foot and Mouth Disease | Cattle movement ban lifted

JOHANNESBURG - The Agriculture Department has lifted the ban on cattle movement in all provinces.

The 21-day ban was implemented following various outbreaks of foot and mouth disease countrywide.

Certain conditions of movement however have been prescribed in the country, except for the new Disease Management Areas in Limpopo, KZN, and the Free State.

All movements will still have to be accompanied by owner declaration, stock theft documents, and an understanding of isolating animals for at least 28 days before introducing them onto the main herd.

Surveillance and vaccination in areas that still have active infections will continue.
