First woman in Africa to navigate a submarine laid to rest

CAPE TOWN - The first female in Africa to navigate a submarine has been laid to rest.

Lieutenant Commander Gillian Hector was one of three sailors who died in Kommetjie in the Western Cape last week.

A probe has been launched into their deaths - with navy bosses urging an end to speculation - and for experts to be allowed to establish the proper cause.
