JOHANNESBURG - The NICD calls on anyone with MPOX symptoms to be tested.
They include a rash lasting two to four weeks, fever, muscle aches, back pain, low energy, and swollen glands.
This as the Western Cape recorded its first Mpox case.
According to the Health Department, with the most recent incident, the total number of cases rises to seven confirmed cases.
The latest case is that of a 39-year-old male patient who was admitted on 29 May to a private hospital in the Western Cape.
On 23 June, a test at a private laboratory verified his results.
The department has observed that all of the patients are dealing with long-term underlying conditions like HIV.
This indicates a significant likelihood of immunocompromised individuals if medication is not followed as directed.
