JOHANNESBURG - An average of 2,000 vehicles per hour are heading northbound on the N3 as some holidaymakers begin making their way home.
The N3 toll concession says they expect volumes to remain high for at least the next 24 hours.

Traffic police may institute calming measures in busy areas if volumes become excessive.
Meanwhile, although the roads may be busy, South Africans seem to have largely heeded the call to drive cautiously.
Thania Doogra of the N3 Toll Concession says only one crash has been reported thus far with no impact on the flow of traffic.
