JOHANNESBURG - Security at Fort Hare University is being beefed up.
This is as the institution confirms that exam halls on the Alice campus were set alight.
It is believed students started the blaze at the sports complex Sunday night.
This was apparently in a bid to halt the start of writing as students claim the timetable is too congested.

However, the university says exams will go ahead as scheduled from Monday afternoon.
Monday morning's papers, though, will be rescheduled to a later date.
The university is investigating the fire and says congestion claims are unfounded.
It says student furniture was burnt, a shop vandalised, and a computer lab windows were smashed.
