JOHANNESBURG - South Africa is currently on Stage 4 rolling blackouts.
It was downgraded from Stage 5 at 5am on Tuesday morning.
The utility had been implementing Stage 6 blackouts due to a breakdown of units at most of its power stations.
On Monday morning it was downgraded to Stage 5 from stage 6.
Stage 4 power cuts are expected to continue for the remainder of the week.
Meanwhile, Eskom has confirmed the deployment of troops to power stations.
The Presidency requested the military's intervention following incidents of theft and sabotage.
