JOHANNESBURG - Eskom's group executive for legal and compliance, Mel Govender says she questioned the fairness of former CEO Andre de Ruyter’s contract termination.
Govender says she couldn’t understand how some of the utterances made by de Ruyter’s brought Eskom into disrepute.
In an interview with Anikka Larsen on eNCA, the former utility’s group executive dropped explosive information about allegation of corruption, sabotage and maladministration.
She said, “It all happened very fast ,the interview was broadcast the next day he was at the office, we worked till late that evening."
"By nine that evening I was informed his contract is terminated. The actually opportunity to review the interview happened post his termination, we were working on very big case."
"I was not requested for legal advice, I did share with the acting GCE regarding the termination in a manner that was done."
"I questioned the fairness, I questioned what was said that has brought Eskom into disrepute. The risk that he highlighted is not news to Eskom so I questioned what exactly has brought the organisation into disrepute."
