Eskom announces departure of Jan Oberholzer

eNCA

JOHANNESBURG - Eskom's Chief Operating Officer Jan Oberholzer and the utility have parted ways.

In a statement released earlier, the power utility says Oberholzer was on a fixed-term contract to provide support to the Koeberg Nuclear and Kusile Power Station projects.

On Monday, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said he was concerned about the delays at those two power stations but Oberholzer had announced in April that he was retiring following the exit of former chief executive officer André de Ruyter.

Eskom says it wishes Oberholzer well and has thanked him for his service.

It's expected the COO position will be scrapped after his departure.

Oberholzer's last day at Eskom is on 31 July.
