CAPE TOWN - Equal Education is calling on the Western Cape Government and Santaco to take immediate action to resolve the taxi strike to protect vulnerable pupils and school communities.
This comes after more than a quarter of a million pupils and about 10,000 teachers and staff missed vital class time because of the disruptive taxi strike in the Western Cape.

Equal Education General Secretary Noncedo Madubedube said the strike is threatening learners’ ability to access schools safely.
"We appeal to both parties to find common ground," she said.
"The provincial government and Santaco need to take action right away and prioritise the safety of learners and our school communities."
