JOHANNESBURG - Imagine a Christmas without a cent in your bank account.

But Eskom has confirmed that it's instructed the sheriff of the court to release around R65-million to pay workers' salaries.

The utility attached the municipality's bank account after it failed to pay over R5.7-billion in outstanding electricity bills.
Eskom has urged municipalities to pay up any outstanding debt to avoid workers and residents from being caught in the crossfire.
