JOHANNESBURG - The nominations for the ANC's Top 6 positions are out.
Cyril Ramaphosa and former health minister Zweli Mkhize are the frontrunners for the position of party president.
Ramaphosa's opponent in 2017, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, and Tourism Minister Lindiwe Sisulu have not garnered enough support to challenge for the ANC presidency.
ANC members will make their preferences known at next month's elective conference.
Vote buying often looms large during the ANC's national conferences.
But the Electoral Committee promises to be extra vigilant.
"When you come to the conference, no candidate is allowed to transport delegates or feed them or accommodate them or pay for any expenses," said Chief Livhuwani Matsila, Electoral Committee Secretary.
"That will be a breach of the rules which leads them to them being disqualified.”
Within this week the electoral committee will announce 200 more nominations hoping to secure places in the National Executive Committee.
