JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy, during a service delivery protest in Slovo Park informal settlement in Eldorado Park. The cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
The community took their grievances to the streets on Tuesday morning, blocking the N12 highway with rocks and burning tyres.
Thomas Sithole, a community leader, said, "we are not happy about what happened yesterday ... We want [Premier] Panyaza Lesufi or Lebohang Maile not [former housing MMC] Dan Bovu."
"The residents are not happy that they brought us Dan Bovu ... Moving forward we want [Gauteng Human Settlements MEC] Lebohang Maile. We as the community of Slovo Park...we want justice...for the boy who was shot....We want the law to take its course."
