CAPE TOWN - More than 1,000 employees in the Western Cape Education Department face allegations of misconduct.
The department recently released its annual report, which revealed that 1,059 cases of misconduct had been recorded in 2023/24.
Eight teachers were placed on precautionary suspension as a result.
All this comes while the province faces serve teacher shortages amid budget cuts.
Bronagh Hammond from the Western Cape Education Department said all cases are investigated.
"We did bring 295 cases to disciplinary hearing and we had 34 dismissals as a result," she said.
