KARIEGA - The Democratic Alliance in the Eastern Cape embarked on an oversight visit to check the extent of damage caused by recent floods in the Nelson Mandela Bay metro.
They're saying the recent flood damage in the metro could have been minimised if the municipality had taken the June flooding seriously and acted promptly to implement preventive measures.

But the visit had mixed reactions from community members.
Some see this as an opportunity to score political points using their suffering.
Others agreed that since the June floods nothing has been done to fix the damaged infrastructure.
