TOUWS RIVER, Western Cape - Traffic authorities are ramping up efforts to curb already escalating numbers of road fatalities.
Already, more than five hundred people have died on the roads since the beginning of December.
Transport Minister Barbara Creecy today released a preliminary road-safety report in Touws River, along the Western Cape’s N1 highway.
Road traffic authorities have also sounded the alarm over the high number of pedestrian deaths, pointing out that close to 50% of all traffic fatalities involved people on foot.
