JOHANNESBURG - The community of Diepsloot has been assured of an inter-ministerial intervention aimed at addressing their safety concerns.
On Tuesday they paused their week-long demonstration to hold a memorial service for the late CPF chairperson, John Makula, who was tragically gunned down two weeks ago.
There remains a strong likelihood, however, that the community will resume their protest until President Cyril Ramaphosa personally pays a visit to the area.
In the meantime, Police Minister Bheki Cele assured the mourners that their concerns are being dealt with.
But residents would have none of it, saying they've heard all these promises before.
