CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance has wasted no time in challenging President Cyril Ramaphosa’s declaration of a state of disaster.
It wants the courts to declare the Disaster Management Act unconstitutional.
The party says the country cannot survive another round of the looting and irrationality we saw during the Covid pandemic.

In a statement, DA leader John Steenhuisen says the National State of Disaster will empower the ANC to abuse procurement processes.
He says this will also allow the governing party to issue regulations that have nothing to do with the electricity crisis.
