Crime in SA | Xiluva labels AmaPanyaza wardens ‘unskilled’

JOHANNESBURG - Xiluva party president Bongani Baloyi is warning Gauteng travellers to be wary of the premier's crime-prevention wardens.

Around 6,000 AmaPanyaza wardens have been deployed across the province to fight crime.

Baloyi says the wardens are unskilled and motorists should not stop unless the officers are accompanied by police.

"Nobody can contest the view that crime is a serious problem in the country and no one can contest that you need a supplementary force to be able to assist with more boots on the ground," he said.

"But what anybody can contest is the fact that it has to be within the consent of the law."
