CAPE TOWN - There’s been a rise in attacks on social workers in the Western Cape.
The provincial government is seeking intervention from the Department of Justice.

The Social Development Department says attacks on social workers have become a weekly occurrence this year.
It's advocating for these attacks to be reclassified as “offences against the state” to ensure harsher legal consequences.
