SOMERSET WEST, Western Cape - Two Western Cape women have appeared in Somerset West Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud, money laundering, and theft.
Beneta Jansen, 59, and Prudence November, 53, are accused of defrauding 80 individuals over a trip to Thailand set for July of this year that failed to materialise.
According to the state, the pair face Schedule 5 criminal charges after R1.9-million was collectively paid into their accounts for the vacation.
The matter has been remanded to 4 December for a formal bail application, which the state plans to oppose.
