CAPE TOWN - The high rate of gun deaths in the country is still a major concern.
Now, the Western Cape government is ditching the stick for the carrot.
It's offering a reward of R5,000 for information on illegal firearms.

Community Safety MEC Reagen Allen has assured the public their identity will be protected.
"We are seeing a number of illegal firearms contributing to murders in the province," Allen said.
"I've been very adamant in terms of relaunching this particular reward system."
