Crime in SA | One of two escaped rapists recaptured

MTHATHA - One of two convicted rapists has been recaptured after escaping from an Eastern Cape prison on Freedom Day.

Siyabulela Khohliso and Athini Nothi fled from a sports field at Ngqeleni Correctional Centre.

Khohliso has been transferred to Mthatha Correctional Centre.

He was caught in the Libode area last night.

Mzingelwa remains at large but authorities say they are closing in on him.

The National Commissioner of the Correctional Services Department Makgothi Thobakgale visited Ngqeleni Correctional Centre today.

He's announced the suspension of eight officials who were on duty on the day of the escape.

Two additional officials have been issued with notice of suspension.
