CAPE TOWN - A new centre to fight crime will be set up at the University of Cape Town, with a special emphasis on young people.
It's the brainchild of UCT student and activist Zukile Ntentema.

Ntentema said, "we have juvenile centers were when young people leave are not monitored on whether they go back to violence or not. We want to deploy social workers in those centers…..young people are usually vulnerable when they decide to leave gangsterism."
"For example, if they are stabbed and at the hospital they are thinking to themselves I could have died maybe I need to stop, so that gap is a significant gap and we want to do interventions within that gap…the first aspect is put on the ground to run programmes and secondly provide technical support to grassroots organisations."
