Counting the cost of Eastern Cape's deadly roads

EAST LONDON - It's been a month of carnage on Eastern Cape roads.

Since 1 December, more than 40 people have been killed.

Transport authorities say reckless and drunk driving are some of the major contributors.

A freak car accident has also been reported of a 36-year-old traffic officer who sustained serious injuries after being struck by an iron rod that became detached from a moving truck.
