JOHANNESBURG - Cosatu's first deputy president, Mike Shingange, has paid tribute to the ANC's late Deputy Secretary General, Jessie Duarte. She passed away last year after a battle with cancer.
Shingange says as leaders they must always remember Duarte's words of caution.
Shingange was also speaking during a wreath-laying ceremony in her honour.
He said, "she bemoaned those of us who departed from the principles of selflessness of the ANC and its Alliance."
"In her memory, we should ensure the project she lived and died while she was still dreaming about, defending the MDR, we must keep on and must give the final resting peace of uniting our people."
"2024 is going to require us to be serious and be disciplined, be united and focus on defending the MDR."
