Cops in court for soliciting bribe

JOHANNESBURG - Four suspects, including three policemen, will appear in the Randburg magistrate's court on Monday.

They face charges of corruption in relation to soliciting bribes.

It's alleged they took over half-a-million rand from a suspect not to arrest her.

The officers apparently went to the suspect's house to question her about fraudulent stamps in her passport.

She was arrested and it's believed they asked for a R1-million bribe and threatened to arrest her son.

The woman allegedly gave in and R580,000 was paid for her release.

The Hawks received and investigated the complaint before arresting the two Silverton K9 unit members and a member of the Crime Intelligence Unit.
