Concerted effort needed to stop initiate deaths

EAST LONDON - Stakeholders in the traditional initiation system need to work together to curb the senseless deaths of young initiates.

That's the view of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Velenkosini Hlabisa.

He was addressing the media outside the home of AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Zwelibanzi Daliyebo as part of the ministerial visit to the AbaThembu Nation.

The death toll during the summer initiation season now stands at 29.
