Competition Commission | Sasol hiked price of natural gas

JOHANNESBURG - The Competition Commission has referred a complaint against Sasol Gas to the Competition Tribunal.

The commission found that Sasol Gas has hiked its price for natural piped gas by up to 72-percent.

The excessive pricing has continued for almost a decade, and is ongoing.

Natural gas is used as an alternative source of energy by industrial, commercial, and domestic customers.

Sasol Gas is the only supplier in South Africa and supplies gas traders and end-users, through a network of pipelines. Customers complained about the current prices and the steep increases.
