STILFONTEIN - Community volunteers are expected to send food and water to illegal miners who remain underground at the abandoned Stilfontein mine shaft, in the North West.
The miners claim they have resorted to cannibalism due to a lack of food.
On Wednesday, six more illegal miners emerged from the shaft.
The human rights group Mining Affected Communities United in Action has approached the Constitutional Court, in their attempt to force both the police and government to intervene by providing food and supplies to those still underground.
Over a thousand zama zamas have surfaced, but hundreds remain underground.
