CoJ calls for registration for all public security cameras

JOHANNESBURG - Crime activists in Johannesburg are accusing the City of curtailing residents' ability to fight crime.

This is after the municipality said in its by-laws that the CCTV cameras need to be registered.

This is if they have a view of a public space or road and private property.

People will also be barred from uploading footage onto social media.

Other parties in the municipality says the CCTV by-laws are government overreach.
