CoCT, Western Cape SAPS partner to fight crime

CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town and Western Cape police are finalising a deal to use several city-owned buildings as additional police stations in areas where capacity is needed, and even absent.

Among these areas are Mfuleni, Du Noon and Lwandle.

The decision follows the recent closure of Brown’s Farm Satellite Police Station deemed unsafe for use and having no electricity to keep open beyond 5pm each day.

Community activists and unions representing the police are welcoming the partnership.

Unions representing police officers in the province are pleading with the national government to not only build police stations but also maintain those in existence.
