City Power wants critical infrastructure to stand alone

JOHANNESBURG - City Power is calling for critical infrastructure to be taken off the grid. 

Board chair Bonolo Ramokhele says this would allow it to continue operating regardless of blackouts.

This comes after Joburg residents were left without water for much of last week due to a lightning strike.

"What we have done over and above dealing with the recent outage that caused havoc, is to say let us get critical infrastructure off the grid," he said.
