JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg City Power implements its own stage 6 power cuts schedule.
Instead of the four-hour slot, residents can expect power cuts nearly every two hours.
In a statement, the city says the decision was made to enable those working from home, or relying on life-supporting medical equipment to quickly recharge their devices.
Another reason they've chosen to abandon the Eskom schedule is to curb crime, such as cable theft and vandalism.
So, in short, this means residents can have blackouts for up to 10 hours a day, but City Power will try to ensure that businesses that signed agreements remain exempt to keep the economy running.
