JOHANNESBURG - Frustration is growing in Johannesburg as residents are left in the dark about power cuts.
There's mass confusion in the city over new block schedules since City Power took over power cuts.
Now, the utility is defending its schedule.
It says instead of four-hour slots during Stage 6, more two-hour slots are being scheduled.
It says this will enable those working from home or relying on medical equipment to recharge their devices.
The utility also says the new roster will reduce crimes like cable theft and vandalism.
All this means that residents can be left without power for up to 12 hours in two-hour intervals.
City Power says it will still try to exempt some businesses so the economy can keep running.
