JOHANNESBURG - The City of Johannesburg says illegal connections must be removed.
This is in response to people illegally occupying derelict buildings in the CBD.
City manager Floyd Brink was briefing the media on Friday following another fire in Marshalltown.
He has indicated that residents there are going to be evicted.
"As the City of Johannesburg, we are taking a clear stance, we will be defending ourselves against those that believe that they would want to attack us on any of our initiatives," he said.
Earlier this month a five-storey, hijacked building caught fire in Marshalltown in the Johannesburg city centre.
At least 77 people have died.
