JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Health is denying it owes billions to the City of Joburg.
Mayor Mpho Phalatse claims it's in debt to the tune of R240-million.
She's threatening to cut off services to health facilities if this is not settled on Friday.
But the department insists its accounts are up to date and wants an investigation into the matter.

"The city, we've been paying. First of all, all our accounts with the city are up to date," said acting Gauteng Health CFO Masibolekwe Ndima.
"We then had a situation whereby the city stated that on two of our institutions they will have to backdate the water charges and also sanitation and sanitation for seven years.
"And what we said to the city is to say, ok fine, you can do that however we would want you guys to investigate and maybe bring our engineers as part of this because it doesn't make sense."
