BOKSBURG - Government has betrayed Chris Hani by releasing his killer.
That's according to the widow of the struggle stalwart.
Limpho Hani was speaking at the 30th commemoration of her husband's assassination.
The SA Communist Party leader was gunned down on this day in 1993 by Polish immigrant Janus Walus, who has since been released on parole.
Hani's widow Limpho was scathing about the parole, saying it amounts to Hani's double murder.
"Tambo turned on his grave the day Zondo released Chris Hani's killer," she said.
The SACP has started a petition calling for an inquest, with over 20,000 signatures so far.
It says it won't hesitate to take the government to court if needs be.
"We want this inquest of who murdered and assassinated our General Secretary because when [Limpho] is talking, here we also understand how ourselves we are traumatises by this quotation," said SACP General Secretary Solly Mapaila.
