Cholera Outbreak | Vredefort family seeking answers after three deaths

JOHANNESBURG - The Manoto family in the small town of Vredefort in the Free State recently lost three of their relatives.

They believe all of the victims died from cholera.

Meanwhile, Ward Councillor Tshepo Sothoane says officials are unable to determine the exact death toll from the waterborne disease in that province.

"Some families, apart from the Manotos, do not give consent for the post morteum to be conducted. So we are unable to surely give the exact stats but yes in this family, there were three people who passed on, yes we allege its cholera but only depend on the stats given by the Department of Health and after the post-mortuem has been conducted only the family will be able to give us the results," he said.
