PRETORIA - Ten people have died in Hammanskraal due to a cholera outbreak.
Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko confirmed the death toll on Sunday.
She says response teams have been dispatched and water samples have been collected for tests.
Nkomo-Ralehoko says two wards are available to accommodate patients who couldn't be immediately admitted at Jubilee Hospital.
"There are wards that we've activated," she said.
"We're ready now if we have more people."
Tshwane Health MMC Rina Marx said the George Mukhari and Steve Biko hospitals are on standby to accommodate patients if Jubilee Hospital is inundated.
The City of Tshwane is warning residents of Hammanskraal and surrounding areas not to drink water from their taps.
