Calls to increase Fort Hare VC’s security

JOHANNESBURG - The  ANC in the Eastern Cape is calling on authorities to urgently increase Fort Hare Vice-Chancellor Professor Sakhela Buhlungu's security detail.

This follows the brutal attempt on Buhlungu's life outside his residence last Friday.

His protector, Mboneli Vesele, died in a hail of bullets.

The party has condemned the incident and is calling on law enforcement agencies to do everything in their power to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.

Police in the province is investigating a case of murder.
