JOHANNESBURG - Thabo Bester's mother has confirmed that it is indeed her son.
Maria Mabaso says it is painful to watch the series of events unfolding in her son's life.
Bester appeared before the Bloemfontein magistrate's court on Friday.
He was held at the Kgosi Mampuru Prison in Pretoria after escaping from a privately-run prison last year.
Bester has now been remanded in custody until 16 May.
