JOHANNESBURG - While teaching and learning resumes across the country, thousands of pupils in Gauteng are yet to sit in a classroom.
Desperate parents have been queuing outside district offices in hopes to find space for their children in Grade 1 and 8.
Over 34,000 late applications have been received across the province.

But parents say the online admissions system is failing and should be scrapped.
The provincial education department has committed to resolving the crisis within 10 days and is pleading with parents to be patient.
