JOHANNESBURG - Teaching and learning got off to a rocky start at several Gauteng schools on Wednesday.
At Mdelwa Hlongwane Primary School in Soweto, parents refused to let their children attend class as they claim the school is dilapidated and poses a safety risk.
Parents have vowed to not allow any classes to take place until children are taken to either another school or mobile classrooms and ablution facilities are brought in.
The Gauteng Education Department says it's unaware of the situation but will attend to it.
