DURBAN - Old infrastructure is crippling schools.
That was the assessment of Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga, who has been in KwaZulu-Natal monitoring the start of the school year.
Schools in the province have no running water or electricity and those damaged by floods have not been repaired, almost a year later.
KZN Education MEC Mbali Fraser says they’re in the process of awarding tenders so that work can finally begin.
Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube says the province will also pilot a new online registration programme.
