JOHANNESBURG - Auditor-General Tskakani Maluleke is flagging the growing cost of consultants at municipalities.
In addition, she says their financial reporting is often sub-standard.

Briefing Parliament, she said the consultants cost municipalities R1.6-billion, which is an increase from the R1.3-billion previously paid.
Malukeke lamented the lack of skill saying consultants are often hired to attend to basic accounting matters.
