ANC Top 6 candidates to be revealed

JOHANNESBURG - The ANC's road to Nasrec hits its halfway mark on Tuesday.

This is when ANC Electoral Committee head Kgalema Motlanthe formally announces candidates for the Top 6 positions ahead of the party's 55th national conference.

The party's former Treasurer-General Zweli Mkhize is hoping to stop President Cyril Ramaphosa from running for a second term.

CoGTA Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Lindiwe Sisulu are also in that race.

The position of deputy president is contested by Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi, her Justice Colleague Ronald Lamola, Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu and Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha.

Phumulo Masualle wants to be Secretary-General vying against Fikile Mbalula and Mdumiseni Ntuli.

Nomvula Mokonyane has her sights on becoming the next Deputy Secretary-General, competing against ANC general manager Febe Potgieter.

In the race for the position of Treasurer-General, Pule Mabe is going against Mzwandile Masina, Andile Lungisa, Gwen Ramokgopa and President Ramaphosa's advisor Bejani Chauke.
