JOHANNESBURG - South Africa is breathing a sigh of relief after the United States confirmed that the country will remain the host of the AGOA Summit.
South Africa's participation in the trade forum was uncertain after U.S lawmakers called for action against the country for its non-aligned stance in the ongoing war in Ukraine.
ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri says the summit scheduled for November, is crucial for the country's economy.
"The hosting of the AGOA Forum provides an essential platform for discussing sustainable development, trade, and investment and is a welcome demonstration of mutual respect between the two nations," she said.
