JOHANNESBURG - Three women were elected to the ANC's Top 7 at the party's 55th national elective conference.
The first and second deputy secretary-general positions will be occupied by Nomvula Mokonyane and Maropene Ramokgopa, respectively.
Gwen Ramokgopa becomes the party's first female Treasurer-General.
Gender activist and economic analyst Phelisa Nkomo says this was a good move from the ANC to elect three women.
